Saucy Pork Balls

While sorting some of our documents, I've found a DelMonte recipes leaflet inserted in the folder case. One of the recipes caught my attention, the Saucy Pork balls. Perfect timing because the other day i bought ground pork instead of ground chicken which i usually buy.

Ingredients:

Meatballs

200 g ground lean pork
carrot, grated
4 cloves garlic, minced
1 onion, chopped
1 egg, slightly beaten
2/3 tsp.salt
1/2 tsp.pepper
6 Tbsp. flour

Sauce

1 can Pineapple chunks
1 medium size red bell pepper, cut into strips
1 Tbsp. red cane vinegar
1-1/2 Tbsp. cornstarch, dissolved in 2 Tbsp.water
1 cup water
1/4 tsp. rock salt
1/4 tsp. pepper
2 Tbsp. sugar
1 Tbsp. soy sauce

Procedure:

Combine ingredients for meatballs and mix thoroughly. Form 2 tsp. of mixture into balls. Fry until golden brown. Set aside.

For the sauce, combine all the ingredients except pineapple. Simmer until the sauce is thick. Stir in pineapple chunks and meatballs.
Garnish with onion leaves.
Good for 6 servings.
